Coto de Gomariz Colleita Seleccionada is the name given to the wines coming from the grapes of the vineyard " O Figueiral". This vineyard was planted in 1978 with only indigenous varieties, a practice which was quite uncommon at the time.

A vineyard of clay soil provides a great variety of diversity for the preparation of excellent white wines like this one.

Wine tasting:

Bright gold. Melon, nectarine, and spices make it a delight both for the nose and for the tongue. Smoky, spicy, and incisive, with very good depth and energy to its fruit and honeydew flavors, it has a nuance of bitter lemon that adds focus and bite to the finish, which clings with spicy intensity and lingering smokiness.

Grapes are selected in the vineyard and collected in 18kg boxes, then sorted on a specialized selection table. Afterwards, they are subjected to a low temperature fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then passed on to 500L new Bourgogne oak casks at the moment of the yeast's maximum concentration. Kept for 10 months with periodical battonnage, then left to rest for a year in the bottle before it is put out on the market.

The Winery:

Coto de Gomariz prepares young, high expression, vintage white wines in oak casks as well as cask-fermented wines.They all are personal works of art that express the complexity of each vineyard owned by the winery.

These robust and delicate wines command both structure and elegance. The young wines are silky with a dense texture and sharp, ripe fruit flavours. Other characteristics include harmony in the toasting, tannins, and passarillage in the cask fermented wines. The red vintages use black fruit and by quercetin and ripe tannins.

In order to preserve quality, the best grape selection, and rigorous control over the preparation, at Coto de Gomariz no more than 200.000 bottles are ever produced per year.
