From the very first glance, the quality of these salts are apparent in that it they are aesthetically pleasing, featuring an appealing color, brightness, and irregular grains, all of which make them a great item to decorate the table. But what really makes them interesting is their composition which is so very rich in essential minerals, such as iron, calcium, potassium, etc. Moreover, they are among the cleanest and purest of salts. This is due in a large part to their origin in oceans which dried up more than 200 million years ago and are free from dirt.

This particular salt comes from the mines of a remote mountain in Iran, where a sea once used to be. La Chinata has chosen this unique corner of the world so as to best take advantage of the unique richness of these salts.

The history of La Chinata begins in 1932, in the region of Sierra de Gata in the province of Caceres. At that time, oil was obtained in very basic olive mills. Nowadays, however, they have the most modern grinding and pressing systems, which are still purely mechanical but  extract a much bigger quantity with a clean and controlled method to ensure the quality of extra virgin olive oil.
