This mushroom (Peretxiko) that Portomuiños offers us is highly appreciated in the Basque country. Its meat is white and brown with a pleasant aroma and a taste that recalls fresh flour.

This delicious mushroom may be considered the queen of spring, but now that it is available in a dehydrated form, you can enjoy it the whole year round.

The warm and humid weather in the region of Galicia is perfect for the growth of these mushrooms. They are a gourmet product appreciated by lovers of good food and have a lot of possibilities for preparation. They can be eaten fresh, but their aroma and taste improves once dried.

Culinary uses:

We recommend eating them uncooked in salads and appetizers, or cooked as a garnish for meat, fish, soups, creams, pasta, rice, and vegetable stews.  Also appropriate for the preparation of desserts and ice cream.


If you want to regain their natural look, just cover with water for at least 1 hour. We recommend saving the water used in rehydration to prepare recipes or to enrich rice dishes. If you use the mushrooms in a recipe that requires cooking, then you can add them directly without previously hydrating them.


Although in the beginning Porto Muiños was only specialized in dehydrated and canned mushrooms, today Porto Muiños bases its success on the analysis and research of the organoleptic qualities of seaweed. It also studies and devises many other delicacies from the Galician Sea, searching out new flavors and textures: dried seaweed, seaweed tartare, seaweed noodles, and seaweed herbal teas. Enjoy this garden of the sea in the most diverse formats.
