Information:

Souson is the most important red indigenous variety and at Coto de Gomariz they have been using it for years, trying to bring it back to the levels of prestige it had in the past.

Wine tasting:

Deep ruby. Dark berries, plum, licorice, and mineral bouquet. Juicy, penetrating flavors of blackcurrant, bitter cherry, licorice, and herbs. Nicely concentrated and balanced wine, with a spine of acidity which adds focus. Finishes with silky tannins, a firm grip, and late notes of anise and black pepper. This benefits a lot from aeration.

The Winery:

Coto de Gomariz prepares young, high expression, vintage white wines in oak casks as well as cask-fermented wines. They all are personal works of art that express the complexity of each vineyard owned by the winery.

These robust and delicate wines command both structure and elegance. The young wines are silky with a dense texture and sharp, ripe fruit flavours. Other characteristics include harmony in the toasting, tannins, and passarillage in the cask fermented wines. The red vintages use black fruit and quercetin and ripe tannins.

In order to preserve quality, the best grape selection, and rigorous control over the preparation, at Coto de Gomariz no more than 200.000 bottles are ever produced per year.
