A sauce from Catalonia and also popular in the rest of Spain. A "majao" of tomatoes, garlic, bread, almonds, red peppers and seasoning, the romesco that Hola Gourmet offers is a real steal, especially for those who don't want to spend the time making it themselves in the kitchen. Even a real person from Catalonia would have trouble telling the difference if blindfolded in a taste-testing contest between their personal favorite Romesco and the one offered here by La Chinata.

Ingrdients: onion, tomato, extra-virgin olive oil, vinegar, almonds, hazel nuts, pepper, breadcrumbs, garlic, salt, spices.

The sauce is made from natural ingredients.

Culinary uses:

Romesco fits the bill perfectly with grilled vegetables, or in tempura, whether grilled or roasted, and also with meats. You can also put it on hamburgers--it's amazing to see how far out ahead the burgers come!


The history of La Chinata begins in 1932, in the region of Sierra de Gata in the province of Caceres. At that time, oil was obtained in very basic olive mills. Nowadays, however, they have the most modern grinding and pressing systems, which are still purely mechanical but  extract a much bigger quantity with a clean and controlled method to ensure the quality of extra virgin olive oil.
