Information:

For the Carballo, only grapes from the oldest vines are used. Their growth and development is closely controlled in order to ensure the highest quality.

After being harvested, the grapes are de-stemmed by hand to maintain their integrity. They are then moved to deposits with special dimensions in order to soak for 24-48 hours at a controlled temperature. During fermentation, the temperature is maintained between 25 and 26 ° C. Afterwards, the wine rests with the skins for 5-8 days depending on how the post-fermentation maceration evolves. Subsequently, the wine is run off and transferred to French and American oak barrels where it remains six to nine months for breeding.

Wine tasting:

Strawberry red in colour with hints of violet throughout. Initial bouquet of red and black fruits (strawberry, raspberry and blackberry) with other secondary bouquets (lactic). Balanced, structured and harmonious. Adequate tannin expression and strong aftertaste with an original effect. Pleasant to the taste.

Complements: Meats, cheeses and traditional dishes

Varieties: 50% Tempranillo and 50% Mencia

Origin: Monterei

Vineyards:

Self-owned as well as a selection from old vineyards in the Monterrei valley. Clay and slate soils. Manually harvested and then selected in the wine cellars.

Terra do Gargalo does not compete in wine contests.

The winery:

Bodegas Gargalo retains the excitement from its birth in the mid 1990s. From the beginning, everyone involved in the process of creating their products strives to carry out the goal of Roberto Verino: produce a wine that excites deep admiration in the heart of every person who tries it.

Its creator, Roberto Verino, firmly believes that the world of fashion and wine are not as separate as they might seem, and therefore seeks to enthrall the senses with wine as he might with good fashion.

This love of wine materializes in the conscientious care of the vine and the scrupulous methods of processing, combining the latest technology with the knowledge accumulated by the tradition of the area in order to produce, in short, perfection.

The result is a quality product. These clean, smooth and aromatic wines faithfully convey the virtues of local varieties.
